  • Force Restructuring

On May 4th the Force will undergo a major restructuring to improve the way we work and continue to make North Wales a safe place to live and work.

We will be moving to a functional model of policing to replace the three current geographically based Basic Command Units/Divisions.

These changes were the subject of a four month consultation exercise with local people and organisations, which were agreed by the Police Authority on February 11.
They are the result of detailed reviews of our business and will reduce cost while minimising the impact on frontline services

Our terms of reference for the design of the new structure were:

o To identify the optimum structure for the Force to enable it to meet the combined requirements of the Three Year Strategic Plan and the targets set for the next four years in respect of cashable savings

o The Force structure must have clear lines of responsibility and accountability and it must be capable of supporting partnership working - having regard to the outcomes of the partnership review

o The Force structure must best ensure that management on costs are minimised to prioritise operational policing

o The structure must maintain sufficient operational command resilience at Gold, Silver...
